High Risk Sex Offender Changes His Address in Jamestown

JAMESTOWN – Jamestown Police are warning residents of a convicted high risk sex offender who has changed his address within the community.

Nelson Whitetail Sr. is living at 411 2nd Street Southwest  and does not have a vehicle.

He is a 61-year-old American Indian male standing 5 feet 11 inches and weighing 258 pounds. He has brown eyes and gray hair. His most recent file photo shows him with a mustache.

Mr. Whitetail was assigned a high risk assessment by the North Dakota Attorney General's risk level committee. He is not wanted by police and has served his sentence.

Whitetail was convicted in September 1988 in Burleigh County District Court, ND of Gross Sexual Imposition. No details are available. In March 1997, he was convicted in Mercer County District Court, ND of Gross Sexual Imposition involving two girls, ages 13 and 11.

Jamestown Police Chief Scott Edinger cautions residents that any attempts to harass, intimidate or threaten Mr. Whitetail, his family, landlord or employer will be turned over for prosecution.
