- Kyle Dean and Joe Jacobs have been notified that they won a First
Place Eric Sevareid Award for Sports Play-by-Play in small market
radio. In addition, Kyle and Jeff Culhane (Voice of the NDSU Bison)
have won First Place for the Sportscast/Program called "Bison Beat".
competition consists of a six-state region of Minnesota, Wisconsin,
the Dakotas, Iowa and Nebraska.
In his statement, Kyle Dean
says, “These honors all took place when I was working at AM 600
KSJB radio in Jamestown, ND. I feel honored and it wouldn't have been
possible without my awesome co-workers, my amazing family and the
awesome sports fans!”
According to the website, the Eric
Sevareid Awards are
named for the North Dakota-born and University of Minnesota-educated
journalist best known for his work as a correspondent for CBS Radio
year, the Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association presents awards
to the best work done by broadcast news operations and and
journalists working in small, medium and large markets in the
six-state region on radio, television and online. The panel of
judges is made up of journalists and educators who live outside of
Minnesota, Wisconsin, the Dakotas, Iowa and Nebraska to help ensure
Eric Sevareid Awards are announced each year at the association's
banquet and awards ceremony during the Midwest Journalism Conference.
