Love Your Library Week Coming to Jamestown

JAMESTOWN - Today's libraries are so much more than just books.  The Friends of the James River Valley Library System (Friends of the Library) are hosting a week-long event at Alfred Dickey Library in Jamestown, celebrating that variety and seeking to support future growth.


Love Your Library Weeks runs from Monday, April 24 through Friday, April 28. Spokesman Bill Kennedy says the purpose is to help residents see how important the Alfred Dickey Library and Stutsman County Library are to Jamestown and Stutsman County.  All events will take place at Alfred Dickey.
 
On Monday, April 24, a display that will be up throughout the week will show the Alfred Dickey Architectural Renderings for proposed renovations and expansions of the facility.  There'll be photo exhibits from John Steiner, Troy Gunderson and Keith Norman.  From 6-7 p.m. the adult program presents Gardening with Alicia Harstad.
 
On Tuesday, April 25, Bruce Berg and Keith Norman will present local history stories from 5 to 6 p.m.  There'll be a children's story time from 6:30 to 7.  Barb Cain and Elsie Weber will conduct library tours from 6 to 6:45.
 
Wednesday, April 26 will feature an adult program on Computers, Kindles, Tablet Interface in Library to Go with Justin Batz from 6 to 7 p.m.  A library tour with Barb Cain and Elsie Weber runs from 6 to 6:45 p.m.
 
On Thursday, April 27, there'll be Jonny B's pizza and yard games beginning at 5:00 p.m.  Tours of the new Stutsman County Bookmobile will run from 5 to 7 p.m.  There's children's crafts from 6:30 to 7 p.m.  Authors Bruce Berg, Bill Kennedy, Keith Norman, Laurel Pfau and Stephen Nyberg will be signing books from 6:30 to 7:30.
 
On Friday, April 28, head librarian Joe Rector will discuss the Centennial Initiative from noon to 1 p.m.  Daphne Drewello and Elsie Weber will conduct a library tour from 1 to 3 p.m. and a staff appreciation event will run from 4:30 - 5:30.
