ND – The North Dakota Public Service Commission (PSC) will hold a
public hearing on Monday, Nov. 20, regarding a proposal to construct
a wind farm in Dickey County.
Wind (a wholly owned, indirect subsidiary of NextEra Energy
Resources, LLC), has submitted an application for a permit for the
Foxtail Wind Energy Center.
project will be constructed and operated by Xcel Energy, pending
Commission approval for transfer of the site certificate. The project
will have a generating capacity of up to 150 megawatts and will
consist of up to 75 turbines. Associated facilities will include
access roads, underground electrical collection systems and cabling,
a collection substation, an operations and maintenance building, a
meteorological evaluation tower, a construction laydown area, a batch
plant, and a switchyard. The project will interconnect with Montana
Dakota Utilities’ transmission system, connecting to the MDU 230 kV
Ellendale-Tatanka transmission line.
project area encompasses approximately 20,029 acres (31 square miles)
in western Dickey County.
It is estimated the
permanent project structures will occupy up to 97.74 acres.
