JAMESTOWN – The dry spring, coupled with today’s winds and low humidity, has led to a very high fire danger rating for Stutsman County today.
The county bans all open burning when the fire danger index is in the very high or extreme category, or when a red flag warning has been issued.
The Wildland Fire Assessment System has given the very high fire danger rating to Stutsman, Barnes, LaMoure, Griggs, and Foster counties. Much of eastern North Dakota is in the category and a red flag warning goes into effect at 1 p.m. for portions of the northeast.
Kidder, Logan, McIntosh and Dickey counties are in the high fire danger category today.
