A public memorial is set to honor the three people killed on Sunday Nov. 18 in an air ambulance crash. The memorial will be on Monday, Nov. 26 at 10 a.m. at the Bismarck Event Center. The memorial will be open to the public. The crash killed all three people on the aircraft, Pilot Todd Lasky, paramedic Chris Iverson, and nurse Bonnie Cook, while they were en route to pick up a patient in Williston. Memorial funds have been established for donations in their memory, which may be made to the Bismarck Air Medical Memorial at Starion Bank in memory of Lasky and Iverson. Donations in memory of Cook may be made to an account through the CHI St. Alexius Foundation.
North Dakota’s harvests are winding down, but still remain behind the average pace. The soybean harvest is nearly complete while the corn and sunflower harvests both have reached about three-fourths complete. 93 percent of soybeans, 74 percent of sunflowers and 71 percent of corn is harvested, according to the weekly crop report from the federal Agriculture Department.
An agriculture support center located at North Dakota State University has added a program manager. Northern Crops Institute officials say Jena Bjertness will help develop educational programs to promote northern grown crops to global grain buyers and food processors. The Northern Crops Institute is funded by the states of North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota, as well as commodity groups in those states and Montana.
North Dakota State continues to make history in the Missouri Valley Football Conference. NDSU QB Easton Stick was named offensive player of the year while linebacker Jabril Cox was named defensive player of the year in the conference, just the seventh time in conference history that one team has claimed both the offensive and defensive players of the year.
Police in Valley City are on a one man hunt after a suspect allegedly shot a man in the city. Officers were dispatched to the northeast part of town Wednesday evening. The man who was shot was taken to a Fargo hospital and is recovering, according to police. The North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation is assisting in the investigation.
