There’s a new interstate highway coming to North Dakota. The four-lane freeway will be named I-27 and will run from the Canadian border in the western part of the state, through Williston, Watford City, and along the current Theodore Roosevelt Expressway. The route will go through multiple states and end in Texas. Congress appropriated the funds in 2022, and North Dakota has received a $55-million federal grant that will help fund the project. No groundbreaking date has been set. The state’s federal representatives have been supportive of the project, including Congressman Kelly Armstrong who issued a statement that said the interstate will be a boon to energy and ag producers.
