A man has been arrested after filing a false police report in Wahpeton. 54-year-old Brian Hauge allegedly tried to break into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment on 7th Avenue South on Monday afternoon. After failing, Hauge then called police to report shots fired inside the apartment. Once police responded, they found no evidence of a firearm discharge and found Hague parked and watching down the street. Officers arrested Hague and charged him with harassment, stalking, menacing, and making a false police report. The Wahpeton Police Department and Richland County Sheriff’s Office continue to investigate the incident.
