A Cass County Sherriff’s deputy has been fired and the case referred to North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation. Sobriety Program Coordinator Daren Viken was fired last week after allegations of improper conduct. The Cass County Sheriff’s Department declined to comment further when contacted, saying the case is now in the hands of the NDBCI. Viken served in the sheriff’s office for 19 years, the last nine as the Sobriety Coordinator. It appears much of his tenure is now under scrutiny .
