A teenager charged with murder in Grand Forks is attempting to change his not-guilty plea.

Cazmere Haskins is accused of stabbing 24-year-old Anfernee Economy to death last March after a fight at an apartment complex.  Haskins was 17 at the time of the alleged stabbing, but is charged as an adult.

He previously pleaded not guilty, but his last court appearance in November was cancelled and a change of plea hearing was scheduled for Monday.   Court documents show that Haskins admitted to the stabbing to investigators when a guardian was present, claiming it was self defense.

If a deal with prosecutors was reached for a guilty plea, it will still need to be approved by a judge.
