Department of Labor and JBS USA Food Co Reach Agreement

The U.S. Department of Labor has reached a $4 million agreement with JBS USA Food Co. to address and prevent unlawful child labor practices. The funds will support victims and affected communities through scholarships, educational aid, job training, and housing assistance, with a focus on areas like Iowa, Minnesota, and Nebraska.

JBS also agreed to implement measures such as hiring a child labor compliance specialist, conducting unannounced audits, and hosting a symposium to combat illegal child labor in the industry.

JBS will enforce a zero-tolerance policy for child labor violations in contracts with third-party providers and require nationwide training for employees and contractors.
