According to new statistics from the U.S. Census, the population of North Dakota hit a record high of 800,000 people last July. Cities like Bismarck and Fargo have seen the biggest increase.
Popular states that people have come from include South Dakota, Montana, Minnesota and Texas. A unique trend, North Dakota is one of the three states in the union with a positive fertility rate, which is also helping spark the population increase. The positive fertility rate means more children are born than people passing away.
According to the Department of Commerce, North Dakota will reach a population of just over 830,000 by 2030 and over 890,00 by 2040.
