House Bill 1298 would raise the speed limit from 75 miles per hour to 80 miles per hour in North Dakota. If passed, the bill will apply to access-controlled, paved and divided multi-lane interstate highways.

This would only be changed if there were specific conditions that restrict or require a different speed. State House members passed the bill on Friday. The North Dakota Senate will consider the measure this week.

Montana and South Dakota have maximum speed limits of 80 miles per hour on interstates, while Minnesota’s speed limit is 70 miles per hour.
