Former Express Grain CEO John R. Coleman has been sentenced to 10 years in prison and ordered to pay $69.8 million in restitution after pleading guilty to wire fraud.

Coleman admitted to falsifying financial statements to deceive farmers, lenders, and the Mississippi State Board of Agriculture, securing grain deliveries, loans, and warehouse licenses while knowing the company was in financial distress.

His fraudulent actions led to Express Grain’s 2021 bankruptcy, and Coleman must pay restitution immediately to 152 affected farmers and institutions.
