An Extreme Cold Warning for central and northwest North Dakota issued by the National Weather Service has been extended until Noon on Thursday, February 13.

The National Weather Service says that life threatening wind chills of as low as 50 below are expected to impact central North Dakota.  Exposure to these temperatures could lead to frostbite in as little as 10 minutes.

The worst conditions are expected Wednesday morning, with lows forecast for 24 degrees below zero in Jamestown.

While extreme, that wouldn’t be a February record.  That occurred on February 9, 1994 when the lows reached 35 degrees below zero.
