Former North Dakota Senator Ray Holmberg, 81, will be sentenced on March 26 in Fargo’s federal court for admitting to traveling to Prague under an alias to engage in commercial sex with minors between 2011 and 2016. Holmberg pleaded guilty to the charge, which carries a maximum 30-year sentence, though prosecutors agreed to recommend about three years. Currently held in Minnesota’s Sherburne County Jail, the former Grand Forks legislator resigned in 2022 after serving since 1976. He must register as a sex offender regardless of his sentence.
