One House Bill approved while another is rejected in relation to public and private school breakfast and lunch funds in North Dakota

The North Dakota House of Representatives voted down House Bill 1553 on Tuesday. The bill would have provided free breakfast and lunch to all public and private schools using $140 million from the Legacy Fund.

On the contrary, House Bill 1475 received a “do pass” recommendation by the House Education Committee Monday. The bill calls for free breakfast and lunch using a general fund of $140 million.

Now, the House Appropriations Committee will review Bill 1475 and give a recommendation before it goes to a full vote in the House.
