Two new states may soon be joining Florida and Alabama in the banning of lab grown meat for human consumption. The state of Wyoming has passed House Bill 168 which prohibits the manufacture, sale, and distribution of cultivated meat for human consumption, and will await a vote from the Senate.
Montana is currently in the process of the House passing House Bill 104, which is still under consideration but saw no opposition in a meeting last week.
Individuals who knowingly violate the law can face misdemeanor charges, and penalties including 60 days in jail.
And any retail food establishments would face disciplinary action under the state’s food safety laws.
