North Dakota State Representative Josh Christy, 43, died unexpectedly Tuesday evening in Bismarck. The first-term Republican from District 27 in Fargo was known for his work on artificial intelligence and technology legislation. Gov. Kelly Armstrong ordered flags to be flown at half-staff in honor of Christy, who leaves behind his wife Mary and three young daughters. Christy, described by colleagues as a “gentle giant,” chose to donate his organs. District 27 will select a replacement within 21 days to serve the remainder of his term, which ends in 2026.
