Interstate 29 temporarily shuts down on Friday morning after semi-truck crash

Emergency personnel responded to a crash involving two semi-trucks on Interstate 29 around 2:30 a.m. on Friday. The crash occurred in the northbound lanes under the 19th Avenue N. overpass.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, one semi was merging onto the interstate after it stopped at the shoulder when it was rear-ended by the other semi. The semi that hit the merging truck and trailer caught on fire, but crews in Fargo were able to put the fire out. The trailer that was hit suffered damage but the semi that hit the trailer is a loss.

The driver of the burning semi suffered minor injuries. Both trailers were empty.
