Some North Dakotans will attend a statewide read-out hosted by Right to Read North Dakota in protest of Senate Bill 2307. The bill would require a public or school library to remove “explicit sexual material” or place it in an area of the library that is not accessible to people under the age of 18.
The bill would also require the state’s attorney general to investigate complaints regarding minors’ access to explicit sexual material. The attorney general would also have the power to order the state treasurer and superintendent of public instruction to stop the distribution of state funds to the offending library until the situation is solved.
The read-out in Jamestown will be held from 2:00 to 2:30 p.m. at Alfred Dickey Public Library on Saturday, March 1.
