A Fargo teen spoke with The Forum on February 26th after a video of her singing the national anthem went viral on TikTok. Lilly Held goes by Lilly Danielle while performing, and is just 17 years old. She participates in choir, is the Fargo South wrestling team manager, and actively releases her music on all platforms. As suggested by her choir teacher, she sang the national anthem at the North Dakota High School State Wrestling Tournament. The video, captured by her aunt, has since garnered thousands of likes on her mom’s Facebook. In a bet for Starbucks coffee, Held posted the video on TikTok to see if she could beat her mother in views and likes, which she did: amassing over 950,000 views and 160,000 likes. After graduating, she plans to study music therapy, but doesn’t rule out singing professionally.
