The Class B State Tournament is approaching faster and faster everyday.
8 teams will play in the tournament but currently 16 teams still have to get there.
Tonight in Jamestown the Region 1 Title will be on the line, with two District 1 Teams battling it out for a shot at state.
First off tonight the Third Place Game will take place, winner of this one will advance to the State Qualifiers in Fargo and the loser going home for the season.
3rd place: Medina-Pingree-Buchanan (Thunder) vs. Lamoure-Litchville Marion (Loboes)
- These teams have met twice this season, once being in the regular season when Lamoure-LM got a win at Medina Pingree Buchanan 62-54, and Medina would get some revenge defeating Lamoure 44-40 in the District 2 title game. It will be the rubber match between the two teams to determine who is moving on to the qualifiers.
Championship: Oakes (Tornadoes) vs. Hankinson (Pirates)
- This will not be a rubber match, BUT both of these teams know each other well, and Hankinson might have the thought of revenge on their mind. During both the regular season and the District title, Oakes got the better of Hankinson both times, winning the regular season matchup at home 59-44, and winning the District 1 title by a large margin of 73-46.
- This game will also feature two superstars, one for each team. Players to watch are Beau Thorpe for Oakes, and Raeshaun Earl of Hankinson, both are productive scorers, and sticky defenders. Look for those two to be in a battle of points scored.
- The season will not be over for whoever loses this game, the second place team will automatically advance to Fargo for a shot at the State Qualifiers.
