The injury bug is infesting the Minnesota Twins dugout.
Yesterday in the series finale against the New York Mets, another Twins player was added to the list of injuries the ball club is going to have to work around going forward in 2025.
Willie Castro seemed to have strained something in his oblique, and was substituted for the already injured Carlos Correa in yesterdays win on defense. Castro adds to the list of Royce Lewis, starting pitcher Pablo Lopez, Carlos Correa, and Matt Wallner and the Twins are starting to run out of infielders.
The Club is heavily rumored to be bringing up infielder Ryan Fitzgerald from AAA as one fill in, but to fill in another gap the Twins went to the market and purchased themselves a replacement for the time being.
The team acquired infielder Jonah Bride from the Miami Marlins for cash, filling in the depth until players like Castro, Correa, and Lewis are ready to go, or when Jose Miranda who was sent down to AAA figures out his slump, and is finished healing his own injury. Bride was about to be Designated for Assignment down in Miami, and the Twins saved him a trip and are bringing him up to Minnesota. Bride has struggled to get going in 2025 so far however, only collecting 4 hits, 2 RBI’s, and a batting average of .100.
It wasn’t a flashy signing, but it was one that was needed so the Twins could field a team this Friday when they travel to Atlanta to take on the Braves. The Twins are off on Thursday and will take the day to make decisions on who and where everyone will be playing after this latest bite from the injury bug.
The Twins sit at 7-12, and in fourth place in the AL Central after their first series win of the season over the Mets on Wednesday.
