The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Board of Directors approved changes on Monday that will for its Division I athletes to be paid directly by schools.

The change still needs to be approved by a district court judge to be fully realized. The news comes of the looming decision of California-based District Judge Claudia Wilken, who will soon rule on a singular settlement of three antitrust cases that will clear the way for direct athlete pay.
