The North Dakota Senate approved a bill with a $30 million incentive funding package for large agricultural developments on Wednesday, including an emergency clause to make it effectively immediately after the governor signs it, instead of in August. The bill initially passed in late March, but went through reconsideration. The bill is likely aimed at Belgian potato processor Agristo’s planned $450 million facility in Grand Forks. If approved, the company could receive $15 million upon occupancy of the facility and another $15 million after reaching 50% production capacity. The grant is reimbursement based, funded through a Bank of North Dakota line of credit to the agriculture commissioner. It would cover capital expenditures, infrastructure, and site acquisition through 2029. The legislation returns to the House after it initially passed 82-8 in February. The Senate approved it 45-5 on Wednesday, showing strong bipartisan support throughout the process.
