Minnesota State University Moorhead announced plans on Monday to establish an Institute of Applied Artificial Intelligence this fall. The initiative, funded by a significant private donation, aims to position MSUM as a regional AI leader by preparing graduates to apply AI across business, healthcare, education, arts and sciences. Jason Trainer, vice president of enrollment management, revealed the university is currently seeking an executive director to lead the institute by summer. The announcement coincided with AI expert José Antonio Bowen’s campus visit and workshop. Five faculty fellows from different departments have been selected to help develop the program. A formal announcement with additional details is planned for September’s State of the University address.
