North Dakota State Capitol Building
Another protest took place against the Trump Administration. About 300 protesters gathered near the North Dakota Capitol building on Saturday as part of the nationwide “No Kings” movement, coinciding with the 250th anniversary of the Revolutionary War’s first battles. The demonstration was organized under the “50501” initiative—representing 50 protests across all 50 states as one unified movement. Participants voiced their concerns about the Trump Administration’s early actions having adverse effects on many Americans. Joy Jochim from Mandan advocated for transgender rights while opposing cuts to Social Security and proposed Medicaid reductions. Sharon Korsmo of Bismarck expressed alarm over deportations to El Salvador without due process, questioning “who he’s going to turn on next.” Dickinson occupational therapist Kori Holub reported that children with disabilities on Medicaid can no longer access home-based “medical necessity” services she recommends. Additionally, Holub, who volunteers with disabled veterans, shared concerns about recent VA staff layoffs that threaten programs like the National Disabled Veterans Winter Sports Clinic.
