Brandon Murray, 19, pleaded not guilty April 15 to multiple charges including using a minor in a sexual performance and failing to register as a sex offender. The charges, carrying penalties up to 20 years, relate to incidents between July-September 2025 involving a Minot teenage girl. Investigators discovered over 5,000 messages between Murray and the minor, many sexually explicit. Court documents allege they had sex at a Bismarck motel after communicating on social media. Murray reportedly admitted knowing she was underage. Murray was already on probation for a February 2024 corruption of a minor conviction and faces a separate similar charge from July 2024. He remains in custody on $250,000 bond with trial scheduled for July 8.
