North Dakota Governor Kelly Armstrong has signed Senate Bill 2177, which redirects a portion of state sales and use taxes from animal agriculture development to fund local infrastructure projects. The legislation, which passed both the House and Senate, will take effect August 1 of this year. Brenda Elmer, Executive Director of the North Dakota Corn Growers Association, explained that the bill allocates tax revenue from new animal agriculture projects to put it towards local government infrastructure needs. The association recently hosted Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak at their Spring board meeting in Carrington to discuss strategies for expanding animal agriculture across the state. This legislative effort represents part of a larger initiative to bolster North Dakota’s agricultural sector through targeted infrastructure investment and development.
