Heavy rainfall drenched much of North Dakota Monday, with even the typically dry “Bismarck Bubble” receiving over an inch of precipitation. The rainfall provides welcome relief for south-central and southwest regions that experienced a dry winter and spring. Southeast North Dakota saw the heaviest downpours, with Jamestown recording over four inches of rain, the highest total in the state. This continues a wet trend for the Jamestown area over the past couple of years. The rainfall will help reduce wildfire risks, benefit spring planting for farmers, and promote grass growth across the state. Looking ahead, temperatures are expected to warm significantly into the 70s and 80s by the weekend and throughout early May. Light showers are possible Wednesday and Thursday, but these systems won’t match Monday’s rainfall intensity. The forecast then shows dry conditions for the following 10 days.
