There are now nine confirmed cases of measles in North Dakota, all confirmed in the western half of the state in Williams County. North Dakota Health and Human Services says all new cases were contracted within unvaccinated people who had no contact with the initial cases in North Dakota. Officials say people may have been exposed at the Williston Walmart on April 29th. Four of the infected cases were at Williston schools while contagious: Missouri Ridge Elementary, Williston Middle School and Williston High School. Until these recent developments, the state has had no confirmed measles cases since 2011. North Dakota is now the 11th state with a measles outbreak.
