Pickleball is now banned at a park in Maple Grove, Minnesota. Neighbors say the park was a very popular place to play this game, so this ban has prompted residents to start a petition that now has several hundred signatures. The city says the ban comes from a noise complaint from one nearby neighbor. The family asked to remain anonymous as they’ve received threats. Officials say a ban is extreme, but was meant to protect the people living closest to the courts. The Maple Grove park board is considering requiring pickleball courts to be at least 200 feet away from a residence. Pickleball noise, which some say is quite annoying, is becoming more of an issue nationwide as the sport’s popularity increases, causing cities to regulate play.
