More changes could be coming to the NFL, but with some potential changes to the league, there will also be some changes coming to the Olympics too.

During league meetings, per sources, teams voted on the possibility of allowing NFL players to participate in the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles in the sport of Flag Football. According to reports, it looks as if the vote will pass, and we could see some NFL stars representing their country in the Olympics in the coming years.

The Olympics were not the only thing being voted on, the league will also vote on the potential banning of the play made famous by the Philadelphia Eagles “Tush Push”, as well as a potential change to the way playoff seeding will take place at the end of the season.

The Green Bay Packers were the team to first present a rule banning the play, and the league will vote to determine whether the play is deemed illegal, unfair, or unsafe, with many different opinions being brought in to figure out if the play should be banned or not, including many of the leagues Head Coaches, and the leader of the team who has perfected the play, Eagles Head Coach Nick Sirianni.

The Detroit Lions proposed the changing of the playoff seedings, stating that each of the conferences need to be seeded based upon record and not the current structure of the 4 division champs being the top seeds, and other teams being lower seeded due to not winning the division. The idea stemmed from the NFC North’s success in 2024 when the 14-3 Minnesota Vikings had to go on the road in the Wild Card round to take on a team with a record worse than them.

Teams will vote within the coming days and the league will make an announcement about what changes are coming and when. The NFL has been active in changing little things in the league the last couple of seasons including the change to the kickoff rules, new down and distance tracking technology, as well as taking the NFL draft on the road to different fan bases.
