The Minnesota Timberwolves took a loss in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals, running out of gas 114-88.
Turnovers and another off night from the 3-pt line played a factor in the Wolves loss, and OKC’s youthful, deep offensive and defensive capabilities were key in securing the Thunders first win of the series.
Julius Randle was the shining star of the night scoring 28 points with 8 rebounds and 1 assist. Anthony Edwards would miss part of the second quarter after he was taking back to the locker room with another tweak in his ankle, an issue he’s been dealing with in every playoff series. Edwards finished with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists, and was in another slump from the 3-pt line going just 3-8.
Offensive production also played a factor, or lack there of, Randle and Edwards were the only Wolves players that went into double digits in scoring. Donte DiVincenzo was the next highest scorer with 9 points but also went 3-12 from the 3-pt line. The team as a whole struggled against the Oklahoma City defense, going just 15-51 from the 3pt line, and giving up 19 turnovers.
Oklahoma City re-energized by the roaring crowd of Thunder fans were led by MVP-Favorite Shai Gilgeous Alexander who finished with 31 points and Jalen Williams finishing with 19 points.
