The Jamestown Sun reports that Ave Maria held a groundbreaking ceremony Friday for an $8.4 million, 12,000-square-foot addition that will significantly expand private room availability. The project will add new private rooms and convert 16 existing semi-private rooms, increasing the facility’s private rooms from 28 to 60. CEO/Administrator Tonie Stoen called the project “essential” and expects completion by summer 2026. The Catholic healthcare facility serves 100 licensed beds for skilled nursing and rehabilitation services, plus 58 assisted living apartments, with about 230 employees. The expansion is funded through an $8 million “Forward in Faith” capital campaign launched last fall, with contributions from community donors and employees. JT Kennelly, SMP Health president and CEO, said the project continues the Sisters of Mary of the Presentation’s tradition of serving community needs.
