Memorial Day travelers are benefiting from the lowest gas prices in years, with the national average at $3.18 per gallon as of Sunday – the cheapest Memorial Day weekend since 2021, according to AAA. Prices have dropped significantly from $3.59 last year and are far below the $4.60 average from 2022. The savings come as travel demand increases, with AAA projecting nearly 40 million Americans will drive over the holiday weekend, up about 3% from last year.
