North Dakota Ethics Commission Chair Dave Anderson dies at 69

Dave Anderson, chair of the North Dakota Ethics Commission, died Monday at age 69. The retired Brigadier General served 34 years in the North Dakota Army National Guard, including commanding the 142nd Engineer Combat Battalion during its Iraq deployment in the early 2000s. Anderson was appointed to the Ethics Commission in 2019 by former Governor Doug Burgum and legislative leaders. He held degrees from North Dakota State University and the U.S. Army War College and worked as Coordinator of Military Student Services at the University of Mary in Bismarck until his death. Ethics commissioners are chosen through consensus votes between the governor and state Senate majority and minority leaders.
