Jack Brown Stadium in Jamestown has completed installation of a new LED lighting system that eliminates light pollution and provides more efficient operation. The upgrade became necessary after lightning destroyed the old system last July, forcing baseball games to end early or adjust start times. The $310,500 project was funded through insurance ($68,000), grants from Babe Ruth League ($60,000) and Jamestown Tourism ($25,000), plus private donations and district funds. The new targeted lighting system uses LED fixtures on new poles and updated electrical infrastructure, reducing operational costs while focusing light specifically on the field rather than spilling into the surrounding neighborhood.
