U.S. corn and soybean planting are ahead of schedule as of May 25, 2025, with corn 87% planted and soybeans 76% planted — both above the five-year averages. Corn emergence is strong, and its first condition rating shows 68% in good-to-excellent condition. Soybeans are also progressing well, with 50% emerged.
Spring wheat is 87% planted and 60% emerged, while winter wheat is 75% headed, though its condition dipped slightly to 50% good-to-excellent.
Recent heavy rains have helped ease drought in parts of the Central and Southern Plains but caused fieldwork delays and replanting needs in the South and Southeast.
