Valley City State University will hold a groundbreaking ceremony Thursday, June 12, at 2 p.m. for the new Tharaldson Family Athletic Center. The facility, located south of the W.E. Osmon Fieldhouse, will feature an indoor turf practice area, weight room, training room, and new locker facilities. The project is funded by a $5 million lead gift from the Gary Tharaldson Family and additional private donations through VCSU’s Forward Together Capital Campaign. Athletic Director Dennis McCulloch called it a “game-changer” that will enhance year-round training and help with recruiting. Attendees can walk a full-size outline of the building’s floor plan and view architectural renderings after the ceremony.
