In an early NHL offseason move, the Minnesota Wild announced they would be re-signing a key contributor to the team, re-signing right wing Marcus Johansson to a 1 year deal worth $800,000.
Johansson was traded to the Wild from the Capitals back in 2023, playing 206 games for the Wild, totaling 34 goals, and 62 assists.
Johansson had 11 goals and 23 assists in 72 games during the 2024-25 regular season, playing between the second and third lines. Johansson also finished sixth on the team in points.
Minnesota will try to regroup this season after another first round exit in the Stanley Cup Playoffs when they lost to the Vegas Golden Knights in 6 games. The signing of a veteran is a step in the right direction.
