Jamestown’s Frontier Village had a strong Memorial Day opening, selling 150 cups of ice cream in three days and signaling a promising tourist season ahead. The Jamestown Sun reports that the free pioneer attraction has added a new website and moved its information center to the train depot, where visitors can pin their home locations on a popular map. Opening weekend saw pins from Washington, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois. New attractions include a children’s scavenger hunt with ice cream discounts, plans for outdoor horseshoes, and a unique addition coming soon – a mini barn with a “milkable” fiberglass cow named “Henrietta Holstein” that children can practice milking. The General Store now offers local bakery treats and features a historic post office where visitors can mail postcards with free stamps. The village runs daily through September 14th with free admission.
