It was reported yesterday that Twins Starting Pitcher Pablo Lopez was more than likely going to be missing some time and heading the Injured List, the question that remained was how long?

The team announced that Lopez is expected to miss 8-12 Weeks with a grade 2 strain in his right shoulder.

Lopez had pitched 5 innings on Tuesday night when he noticed discomfort during warmup pitches, and was pulled from the game now landing on the injured list potentially missing all of June, July, and part of August.

Lopez through 11 starts in 2025, he was 5-3 on the season with a 2.82 ERA, and 61 strikeouts, and was the Twins’ “ACE” when it comes to starting pitchers.

The Twins are expected to call up David Festa from AAA St. Paul to replace Lopez for the time being. Festa who has shown glimpses of being a quality starting pitcher could also be replaced with the recently sent down Simeon Woods-Richardson who was a starter for the team for a good majority of last season, as well as the start of 2025.

The Twins will play game 4 of their series with the Athletics this afternoon, and will return home for a weekend series versus the Toronto Blue Jays.
