Federal gang bust in Oakes nets 9 Latin Kings on meth trafficking charges

Details have finally been released on the federal investigation that has been going on in Oakes. Nine people with ties to the Almighty Latin King Nation criminal street gang were indicted on federal meth trafficking charges following a multi-state operation. The suspects were arrested May 15 after a large federal law enforcement search in Oakes, North Dakota.

The defendants, ranging in age from 36 to 47, are from North Dakota, Minnesota, and South Dakota. They face a minimum of 10 years in federal prison if convicted.

The case is part of Operation Crown Down, an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force investigation targeting the gang’s drug trafficking conspiracy across North Dakota and surrounding states.
