Inforum repots that a Fargo woman, Alexis Engelking, 34, faces felony theft charges for allegedly embezzling at least $30,000 from her employer, Salon Professional Academy, where she worked as controller. Court documents show she granted herself a second unauthorized $12,000 loan, inflated paychecks, issued herself double payments, and failed to pay the school’s taxes, resulting in IRS fines. Her former employer accused her of these crimes in December. This is her second embezzlement case – she was previously charged in June 2024 for stealing $12,000 from Fargo Linoleum, where she worked as an accountant. Investigators believe she requested the salon loan to repay the earlier theft. Engelking was released on $5,000 bail Friday and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for July 16th.
