Valley City School District leaders are celebrating the passing of Tuesday’s referendum to build a new school. The vote received 62% support, just above the 60% threshold needed to pass.
A total of 1,846 ballots were cast, according to county officials. The results are expected to be certified on Monday, June 23rd.
The vote means that a new grades 3 through 12 school will be build adjacent to Jefferson Elementary. The current Valley City High School building originally constructed in 1919 will be demolished, along with other additions to the school.
A property tax increase will fund the project.
