A former North Dakota State University football player has been sentenced to federal prison for his role in a drug trafficking operation.
30 year-old Colter Pritchard was apprehended by police during a traffic stop on February 14, 2024 where law enforcement found more than ten pounds of cocaine and a handgun.
An investigation revealed that Pritchard had helped traffic over $500,000 of cocaine in the span of a year. Pritchard pleaded guilty to two charges possessing substances with the intent to distribute.
Judge Peter Welte sentenced him to five years in the Bureau of Prisons at a low-security facility that he says should be near Langdon, Pritchard’s hometown. The judge said he was swayed by Pritchard’s remorse and community support.
Pritchard was a walk on to NDSU football who was a member of the Bison’s 2015 National Championship team.
