The man accused of killing several members of his family will go to trial in November.
Jonnie Gaking is accused of killing his sister and her three year old daughter in a shooting on the Spirit Lake Reservation in Tokio, North Dakota on March 4th. Gaking also allegedly shot his mother, who survived.
A fourth person who was at the residence and heard the shooting called law enforcement. The Bureau of Indian Affairs responded and eventually apprehended a fleeing Gaking, according to documents.
The Bureau says all of the victims were shot in the head, and also says Gaking’s mother identified him as the shooter after regaining consciousness.
The trial was scheduled to begin in June, but has been rescheduled for November 18 in Fargo.
