Minnesota Governor Tim Walz announced the capture of Vance Boelter on Sunday night, the suspect wanted for allegedly shooting two members of the Minnesota state legislature and their spouses. The manhunt lasted over 36 hours before Boelter was apprehended.
Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark were shot and killed early Saturday morning in their home near Minneapolis. State Senator John Hoffman and his wife were also shot, but both survived.
The manhunt brought city, state, and federal law enforcement officials to conduct what Walz said was the largest manhunt in Minnesota history.
North Dakota Highway Patrol and state officials were placed on high alert for Boelter possibly escaping west, but did not issue a public warning.
South Dakota officials did send out a public alert warning Boelter could be headed there.
However, Boelter was found in Minnesota near his home in Green Isle, in Sibley County. More to come on this from CBS National News.
